We are grappling with the unbearable pain and the greatest heartbreak any person could ever bear, trying to find words for something that has left us feeling so empty. There are no soft or easy words to say that our son, Remi, left us yesterday. Forever. My heart is shattered. My life is crushed. Nothing is real.
One impulsive decision drowned in alcohol-induced sadness, took him from us forever. A decision that would never have been made without alcohol. A decision that would never have been made (intentionally or by accident) if he just decided to go to bed instead. He would have woken up to a new day. There were no “signs” because without alcohol he was the most excited young man – with big dreams of his future with those he loved so deeply, huge plans for his career, and an incredible zest for life.
Remi Wagner Died By Overdose
As a parent, you never want an unexpected knock on the door in the wee hours of the morning when the police chaplain tells you that your 21-year-old son is “deceased”.
Remi lived with such passion, such love, such dedication – to his art and mostly to the people he chose to love. We are in a fragile, broken, and unbearable state of mourning, but someday we will rise up and strive to live with the radical passion, deep enduring love, and intentional dedication that our sweet boy did. Do it for Remi.
