It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alison Dewar of Cape Town, Western Cape. Alison, a beloved educator and former Pinelands High School teacher, was found dead after being reported missing on Sunday, October 27, 2024.

Known for her dedication to education and her compassionate spirit, Alison touched the lives of countless students and colleagues throughout her career. Alison’s journey as an educator took her to several institutions where she left a lasting legacy.

She taught at Pinelands High School, Vredenburg High, and Grosvenor Boys High, inspiring students with her warmth, patience, and unwavering commitment to their growth.

She was also the former owner of Edufocus, a tutoring company, and worked as a franchisee with Master Maths, where she continued to support students in their academic journeys.

Alison’s contributions extended far beyond the classroom, as she actively worked to uplift and empower her community. Alison attended La Rochelle Girls High School and later studied at both the University of Cape Town and UNISA, where she gained the knowledge and skills that would define her impactful teaching career.

She also spent part of her formative years at Fairmont High School, building the foundation for a lifetime dedicated to learning and mentorship.

Residing in Cape Town, Alison was known by friends, family, and colleagues as a kind-hearted and dedicated individual who always put the needs of others before her own.

Her sudden disappearance on October 27 left her loved ones and the community deeply concerned, and her passing has left an immeasurable void in the lives of those who knew her.
