Mark Raymond Thresher, 67, of Powell, Ohio passed away on October 28, 2024. Born on December 23, 1956, to Norman Raymond and Carol Jean Thresher of Parma, Ohio, Mark was a man who dedicated his life to his family, faith, and community.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Deborah Scott Thresher, with whom he built a life filled with love, mutual respect, and shared faith. Mark’s academic and professional journey began at Otterbein University, where he pursued a degree in accounting.
More significantly, Otterbein is where he met Deb, the love of his life. Following his graduation, Mark launched his career as an accountant at KPMG Peat Marwick, where he honed his skills over 18 years before transitioning to Nationwide Insurance.
For the next 25 years, he played a crucial role at Nationwide, eventually serving as Chief Financial Officer for 12 years before his retirement. Known for his intelligence, tenacity, and consistency, Mark was a respected leader who made a lasting impact on the company and its people.
Throughout his career and beyond, Mark believed in giving back to the community that had supported him. He served on numerous local boards, bringing his expertise and passion to philanthropic endeavors.
One organization close to his heart was COSI, where he dedicated 15 years of service, including six years as chairman. His contributions to his alma mater, Otterbein University, were equally profound, as he served on its board for 21 years and was chairman for eight.
His dedication to both COSI and Otterbein reflected his deep gratitude and desire to support the institutions that helped shape him. Mark was immensely proud of his family.
