Man Murdered on Kentucky Avenue
A man has tragically died following a shooting that occurred near the corner of 16th Street and Kentucky Avenue SE at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Monday morning, according to officials from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
The incident took place just west of Congressional Cemetery and northwest of Barney Circle, raising concerns among local residents.
Emergency responders from DC Fire Emergency Medical Services (DC FEMS) arrived swiftly at the scene and attempted to perform life-sustaining measures on the victim.
Despite their efforts, he was later transferred to a hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. As of now, police have not released the identity of the victim.
Witnesses in the neighborhood reported hearing a barrage of gunfire, describing the sounds of at least six shots followed by the screeching of tires, suggesting a potentially chaotic and frightening scene.
In the wake of the shooting, law enforcement issued a lookout for a suspect—a Black male wearing a red jacket—who was last seen driving a black Mercedes sedan.
