Amy Roeder was more than just an employee at Westwood Elementary School; she was a cherished member of the school community. As a school aide, Amy played a pivotal role in supporting both students and teachers. Her dedication to fostering a positive learning environment did not go unnoticed. Kevin Lyons, spokesperson for School District 200, praised her contributions, stating, “She was a huge asset to the Westwood school community, and besides being an employee, she was a very involved parent.” Her commitment extended beyond her professional duties, as she was actively engaged in her daughter’s education, attending school events and supporting initiatives that benefited the student body.

Her ability to connect with children and provide guidance exemplified her love for teaching and her genuine care for the well-being of others. Many of her colleagues and students will remember her for her infectious smile and unwavering support.
The tragic accident occurred around noon on Sunday when Amy was driving her 2022 Volvo XC90. According to authorities, the collision unfolded as a 2021 Dodge Challenger Hellcat was traveling west on Davis Road, attempting to pass a 2021 Jeep Wrangler in a no-passing zone. In a catastrophic turn of events, the Hellcat collided with Amy’s Volvo at the crest of a hill, leading to devastating consequences.
The impact caused Amy’s Volvo to veer off the roadway to the south, while the Hellcat spun around, ultimately leaving the road to the north before catching fire. Unfortunately, two individuals inside the Hellcat were pronounced dead at the scene, while Amy Roeder was also found deceased. The full identities of the occupants of the Hellcat have yet to be confirmed.
