School In Mourning After Tragic Crash Kills 11-Year-Old Student Jack Davey

The horror unfolded when a car crashed through a school fence in Melbourne’s inner east.

Police believe a 40-year-old female had driven to Auburn South Primary School in Hawthorn East on Tuesday afternoon to pick up a child just after 2.30pm. Her car then veered off the road, crashing through a school fence.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the devastating fatal crash.

She was arrested at the scene but has since been released pending further enquiries. Her passenger, a student at the school, wasn’t injured.

Jack was taken to hospital with critical injuries but died. Two girls aged 11-years-old, one 10-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy were all taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A parent told 3AW her son was standing near the children who were hit.

“This really is every person’s worst nightmare,” she said. “I just really hope they are all okay.”

It’s believed the children were on a break when the crash happened. The investigation is continuing.
