Wethersfield Firefighter Robert “Sharky” Sharkevich Sr Passed away while Battling With massive Brush fire in Berlin.

Wethersfield firefighter Robert “Sharky” Sharkevich Sr, lost his life yesterday, in a UTV accident while fighting the Lamentation Mountain Fire, in Berlin. The fire has since been renamed; the Hawthorne Fire.

Sharkevich, is a retired Hartford firefighter where he served for years as a tactical rescue driver-saving many lives. He as also a member of Wethersfield Fire Department as a volunteer, staying with his craft. Last evening, miles of fire trucks escorted the body of Sharkevich, from Berlin, to the States Medical Examiner’s office, in Farmington. Three other firefighters were hurt in the incident, however, their injuries are not life threatening.

This is Robert Sharkevich Senior. He was a volunteer firefighter with Wethersfield. He passed away yesterday battling the brush fire in Berlin. A longtime Hartford firefighter before joining Wethersfield, Robert is a true hero in every sense of the word. Rest in peace. My dad will take care of you up there – firefighters stick together
